Artist Statement:
I began my journey into the mosaic art form in 1992. Four years earlier I had become a self-taught stained glass window artist. By studying library books, I learned how to cut, foil, and solder stained glass into wonderful designs that would glow when the sunlight would shine through them.
I had accumulated a lot of scrap glass over those four years. Not wanting to waste any of this beautiful glass, I discovered the art of mosaic! This was the perfect way to utilize these scraps. I was hooked and soon became obsessed with the precise cutting and fitting of small pieces together in bold color combinations and eye catching designs. Mosaic art offers the sweet possibility that my own crazy, disjointed life-bits can yield peace, beauty, and meaning
