Artist Statement:
Raised in Hawaii and surrounded by the lush and vivid hues of the tropics, Andy began her artistic journey with an enthusiastic love of color, shape, and texture. Her
explorations took her from one end of the spectrum to the other as she moved to Maine with its stark and dramatic silhouettes of black granite and white snow along the coast. Bright sun, dancing waters, and earthy richness play together in her varied mediums. Self taught, Andy’s passions swam in acrylics, blew into pottery, strolled through weaving, dove into stained glass, dabbled in watercolor, embraced fabrics, leaped to jewelry, rejoiced in oils, and finally brought them together in multi-media mosaics that evoke flavor, scent, sound, touch, and sight. Andy says she can taste cherry colored glass and smell the sea in blue fabrics. “Art should live and move, include all senses and emotions, and inspire us to reach for the best within ourselves.” Andy‘s top three rules in life are: “Breathe, Love, and Pass it On.” Her art and soul express these yearnings through her love of texture, shape, and color.
Andy now lives here in middle Georgia and pursues many other forms of art including writing, dance, theater, gardening, architecture, gaming, and history. After 31 years in Maine she’s very happy to be barefoot, warm, and dancing joyfully into her next artistic adventure!
